The danger comes when I sit myself in front of a wedge of Brie and proceed to devour the entire thing. It has happened...just ask my family. Did I mention that each of these treats is only 57 calories? Not too shabby for a holiday appetizer with oozing cheese.

Pears and dried cranberries add just the right amount of sweetness to these mini quesadillas, but it's the hazelnuts that really bring all of the flavors together. The recipe calls for a small of amount of the nut, but just a dab will do you.

The recipe:

Using a 2 ½-inch circle cookie cutter (or a glass with a 2 ½-inch circumference and a small knife), cut 3 circles from each tortilla.

How do you make quesadillas stick together? ›

You need to have cheese on both ends of the tortilla so it glues the ingredients together. Just like a stuffed grilled cheese! Not to mention, it's quesadilla math. The quesadilla I'm sharing below uses my turkey taco meat and I add beans, salsa, my quick pico and cheddar and monterey jack.

Are quesadillas an appetizer? ›

The nice thing about this recipe is that it can be either an appetizer or a main course. As a main course I would serve a whole quesadilla with a side salad. From opening the fridge to finding the ingredients to putting dinner on the table, it is less than a 30 minute meal.

Should you butter the outside of a quesadilla? ›

Ingredients to make a cheese quesadilla

Shredded cheese: The shredded cheese is the key ingredient as it melts and creates that cheesy and savory filling. Butter: Cooking the quesadillas in butter gives them a crispy and golden exterior, adding a nice texture to each bite. You can also use olive oil.

How do you seal the edges of quesadillas? ›

To achieve this, simply dampen the edges of the tortilla with a bit of water before folding it. Remove from the pan and firmly press the edges together to create a tightly sealed quesadilla. How long do you wait to flip a quesadilla? Keep an eye on your cheese, other ingredients, and the bottom of the tortilla.
