The QC Design School

The QC Design school is the real deal. Unlike a lot of the home staging courses, the QC Design school looks to be a larger organization. At the time of writing, their Linkedin profile shows just over 50 employees. They also have phone numbers for students in USA, Canada, Australia, and the UK.

They ranked in our Best Home Staging Course guide in position #4 – which put them slightly behind Staging Diva, Staging Studio, and the #1 ranked course from the Home Staging Institute.

There are a number of courses at QC Design School, but we’re mainly interested in the home staging course. The other courses do look interesting however (the color consultant course in particular) and would make a good second course if you still have the itch to learn more.

Make sure to check for deals before you sign up. They have been known to offer package deals, and buy-one-get-one-free type deals in the past. So before clicking the BUY button, make sure to scour their website and see if there are any specials.

Upon completion of the QC Design Schools online home staging course, you’ll earn the ISRP (International Staging and Redesign) double certification. This particular certification shows potential clients that you possess the home staging training required to help clients attract potential buyers and help them sell their houses at the best price possible.

Home Staging Course at the QC Design School:

There is one specific home staging course at the QC Design School, and the cost is as follows:

  • Pay in full: $1504 (save $400)
  • Make lower payments over 15 months: $119

With this course, you get 14 textbooks, 50 online assignments, and over 4 hours of instructional video.

The course contains six separate units to teach you a full range of home staging skills. We’ve reviewed these below for you.

Unit A

Unit A covers the following topics:

  • The role of the home stager in selling homes
  • A home stager’s services and responsibilities
  • Walk-through a full-service home staging project (from consultation to completion)
  • Color psychology and the color wheel

You’ll also begin applying some home staging principles as you practice crafting color palettes targeted for home staging scenarios.

Unit B

Unit B covers the following topics:

  • How to depersonalize and declutter a home
  • Strategies for preparing each room in a house for a real estate showing
  • Review some of the most prominent contemporary design styles
  • Learn the role of accessories and artwork to highlight focal points and features within the home

Unit B has a bonus video that provides tips for accessorizing with award-winning interior designer Jane Lockhart.

Unit C

  • Creating different moods using cool, warm, and neutral lighting
  • Compare different window treatments
  • Learn to dress a window effectively to highlight a beautiful view
  • Curb appeal, and how to enhance it via landscaping, outdoor decluttering, and outdoor staging.

This unit focuses a lot on how to make buyers fall in love with a property before they have even stepped through the front door.

Unit D

Unit D covers the following topics:

  • Understanding technical drawings such as floor plans and elevation drawings.
  • Measuring and sketching the dimensions of a room
  • How to draw floorplans so you can share your staging vision with your potential clients
  • How to place furniture within different spaces by understanding traffic patterns of a room

Unit E

Unit E puts your new knowledge and newly found home staging skills into practice, and asks you to professionally stage a home.

Unit F

Unit F is all about the business side of running a home staging business. You’ll learn about:

  • How to register your own business
  • The tricks to attracting clients through your website
  • Social media’s role in marketing
  • The real estate industry and how it works

QC Design School Review:

Price: The one-off payment for the QC Design School home staging course is at the upper end of the spectrum, but it is jam-packed with value with the 14 full color course textbooks, 50 online assignments, and 4+ hours of instructional video.

If the one-off payment is too much, you can always opt for the payment plan of $119 per month, for 15 months. Although this is still at the upper end of the scale, it makes the course more affordable.

Looking for a cheaper home staging course? Read our Home Staging Institute review or visit their website.

Payment Plans: As mentioned above, QC Design School offers a 15-month payment plan option at $119. The downside to choosing this payment plan is that you’ll end up paying a whopping $400 more than the people who can afford the one-off payment. Yikes!

Refund Policy: The refund policy at QC Design School is 21 days money-back guarantee. During this time you can return the course material (unused), and you’ll receive a full refund.

Material: The course material from QC Design school is well produced, and the videos are top-notch.

The course provides an all-encompassing dive into the world of home staging, from client meetings to pricing, marketing, reading floor plans, and finally staging a home. We haven’t seen some of the topics covered at QC Design School covered by other online courses, such as learning how to measure and sketch the dimensions of a room, and how to use these skills to draw floorplans. This really helps give potential clients a bird’s-eye view of your home design plans (should they request it).

With the tools available online these days, anyone can whip up a floor plan in no time, so it’s a nice small touch to add to your home staging services. We feel the QC Design School course will give you a bit of a head start in this area.

QC Design School Review (2023) (2)

Bonuses: There is a ‘special bonus video’ in Unit B, which provides tips for accessorizing from the award-winning interior designer Jane Lockhart.

Reviews: Facebook has plenty of positive QC Design School reviews, which average out to a whopping 4.8 stars. This is from over 30 reviews at the time of writing, which is quite a lot compared to the other home staging course reviews on this website.

As always, there are a number of positive testimonials (with full name, photo, and company name) on the QC Design School website. It’s good to see they all aren’t 5-star reviews either, with a few 4.5 stars thrown in for good measure.

Value: Value comes down to how painful it is (in terms of spending the money), relative to how good the home staging course is.

In regards to the QC Design School home staging course, the cost is a little bit higher than some of the other courses reviewed on the website, but the quality of the course content is also super extensive, so it’s hard to say anything other than this course is value for money.

Final word

This QC Design School review was a blast to research and write! I’m tempted to dust off my desk and get stuck into some more home staging training myself.

Although we’ve just looked at the QC Design School home staging course, their interior decorating course also looks very good. In fact, so do their color consultant and Feng Shui design courses.
