The Bullfrog drink is an essential summer co*cktail! Blissfully cool and easy to make, it’s perfect for a party punch or to sip by the pool. This Bullfrog drink recipe only needs two ingredients and five minutes to mix. When you need a simple yet refreshing drink, the Bullfrog co*cktail is the answer!
Bullfrog Drink co*cktail
Is the Bullfrog drink a perfect summer co*cktail? Absolutely.
Why? Simple. Refreshing. Only two ingredients. No blender.
I’m a big fan of simple vodka co*cktails, particularly in the summer, because of the light cool tastes. Even better when a refreshing mixed drink is in hand quickly, with no complicated recipe or the need to scrub a blender afterward.
Plus, there’s just something about the lime flavor in a Bullfrog drink that reminds me of my favorite vacation destination, Key West.
Limeade or Lemonade?
For such an easy mixed drink, there are quite a few variations and much more complicated concoctions. Maybe we’ve run out of clever names for co*cktails?
Some recipes add Mountain Dew or 7Up, Blue Curacao and even Red Bull. I’d normally say “don’t mess with a classic drink” but I’m guilty of changing it up too. I definitely recommend deviating from the official recipe, but only slightly.

The Bullfrog co*cktail recipe published in the 1988 Mr. Boston Official Bartender’s Guide calls for lemonade, but I think it’s a much better drink when using Limeade. The added tart from the lime juice keeps this co*cktail from becoming ultra sweet.
Of course, you may prefer the traditional and sweeter Bullfrog co*cktail. In that case, simply substitute Minute Maid Frozen Lemonade for the Limeade in the below recipe.
Here’s how to make the (almost classic) Bullfrog co*cktail:
Bullfrog Drink Recipe:
Ingredients for a Pitcher:
- 1 (12oz) Can Minute Maid Frozen Limeade (or 1 bottle of the pre-made Limeade)
- 12-14 Vodka shots
- Lime for garnish (optional)
Mixing Directions:
- Mix Frozen Limeade with 4 1/3 cup of water and stir until mixed – or use the already mixed Limeade
- Add 12-14 shots of your choice of Vodka
- Stir
- Pour over ice in a highball glass
- Serve with a wedge of lime
Recipe Tips:
If your drink tastes too much of lime, simply add a little more water to the mixture (or Vodka, but you didn’t hear that from me!).
Also, If you want to dress it up a little, slice 2 limes into lime wheels and add to the pitcher. The lime wheels do add to a prettier presentation.
The Bullfrog dink is deliciously refreshing and takes no time at all to make. Great for any occasion where you need an easy big batch co*cktail that tastes great!
